WISE COUNTY TITLE COMPANY

providing efficient, professional, prompt and friendly service to all of Wise County.

Six owners and 13 employees share more than 200 years of title-company experience.

Wise County Title Company is the oldest title company in Wise County. It claims original hand written docket entries over 100 years old. The Title Plant was built in the 19th century and is the only fully indexed sovereignty plant in the county. The old procedures mixed with new technology when the plant records began being indexed on computer, making our plant a unique and invaluable asset. Now with 20 years worth of Wise County history on computer, combined with over 50,000 previously researched property files, Wise County Title Company offers its customers the efficiency needed to service our growing county.

Purchased from the previous owners, Jerry and Debbie Denton Hearrell, on July 3, 2003, the company has six new owners, all former employees of Wise County Title Company.

President Ken R. Dodson of Decatur has been with Wise County Title Company since 1988. Ken currently serves as Examiner, Office & Personnel Manager, and Escrow Officer.

Vice President Vicki Conquest Niblett of Decatur has worked in the industry since 1985. Vicki has been with Wise County Title Company since January of 1992 and currently serves as Closer and Escrow Officer and has taken charge of policy production.

Secretary/Treasurer Brenda McComis of Bridgeport serves as Company Comptroller and Bookkeeper and has been with Wise County Title since 1998.

Vice President Debbie Remmele Baber of Paradise has been in the title industry since 1976 and has been with Wise County Title since 1999. She currently serves as Closer and Escrow Officer.

Andy and Alice Townes of Lake Bridgeport, the newest members of the Wise County Title Company ownership team, have been with Wise County Title since November of 2002, bringing with them 40 years of combined experience. Vice President Alice Townes currently serves as Closer and Escrow Officer. Andy Townes is an Examiner and Manager of Title Operations.

Wise County Title Company employees represent much of the area and aim to be sensitive to the needs of Wise County residents. We take a lot of pride in the work we do. That pride is something passed on from Jerry and Debbie Hearrell. We were all proud to be their employees and will strive to not only continue their dreams but to expand and grow into the 21st Century.

Title Insurance

The buying and selling of a home is often the largest financial transaction with which most people ever become involved. Next to protecting your family, protecting your investments is likely your next greatest concern. Title insurance protects you and your lender from any title problems that may exist in your property’s history. Obtaining a Title Insurance Policy has become the most accepted method of providing peace of mind regarding such an investment.

The title insurance business is regulated by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). The TDI regulates all premiums that are charged, and govern the language used in the insurance policy forms. In Texas, title companies are required each year to provide statistical data about the transactions they have insured to the Texas Department of Insurance. Part of that data includes the amount of premiums they have collected and the number of policies issued.

A Statistical Report is issued by the TDI. For more than 10 years, WISE COUNTY TITLE COMPANY has been the leader in the title industry in Wise County. The reports can be viewed at the TDI website at www.tdi.state.tx.us.

The federal government also created guidelines to protect the public. These guidelines dictate marketing and other methods companies use to pursue business. These guidelines are commonly called RESPA, which stands for Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act. Kickbacks or rebates cannot be offered to any individual or firm as inducement for their business. Likewise, discounts for the quantity of business one sends to a title company or paying for a client’s marketing or other business expense is also prohibited.

The only competitive edge one company can legally gain over another is the quality of service they provide. The fact that WISE COUNTY TITLE COMPANY has, year after year, been the leader in the title business in Wise County is proof of the superior quality of our product. We believe that superior service is what makes our customers return and makes WISE COUNTY TITLE COMPANY “the Wise choice.”
